Authorities - who do not believe wrongdoing - say they will carry on looking into, but that the case has become a "search for recovery".

Earlier, police briefly reduced the hunt, only to resume it on recently alongside 80 military personnel.

"Commissioner authorities said officials were scanning a broader zone based on new evaluations from medical and rescue specialists, rather than any recent developments."

Operation Obstacles

On the end of last week, police announced that the new search had not uncovered any traces of Gus.

"The fact that Gus is a young child, the landscape is extremely rough, unforgiving and experiencing unpredictable elements has made the operation demanding and more complex for those involved," authorities said in a announcement.

About 470 square kilometers - an region approximately twice the area of Edinburgh - has now been covered, and a specialized unit set up recently is expected to continue looking into. Officials have not excluded more operations of the location in the time ahead.

By means of a family representative, the relatives family has earlier said they are "devastated" by their son's disappearance.

"This has come as a shock to our relatives and friends, and we are having trouble to process what has happened," the spokesperson said.
