Three Lions Team Selection Revealed: Jude and Phil Omitted, Bukayo Makes Comeback

Thomas Tuchel has opted to stick with the same Three Lions selection that triumphed against Andorra and delivered an impressive display in Serbia during the previous international break, leaving no room for the Real Madrid star and Phil Foden in his group for the upcoming friendly against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Although Phil Foden making a strong case for a recall after regaining his top condition at his club, and Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following a surgical procedure, the national team manager has decided against including two of the nation's most prominent offensive stars. Bellingham has started only once for his team since his return.

The England boss has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is fully recovered and has been restored in place of his injured Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. Jack Grealish has not been handed a recall.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in the previous selection and appears determined to keeping the same atmosphere. The Newcastle defender, who featured at the defensive flank in the 5-0 win in Belgrade, has dropped out due to a knee injury. Tuchel has opted against selecting a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has included John Stones, who had to pull out previously. Tuchel has spoken about the Manchester City defender's importance for the national team and has floated the idea of using him in midfield.

There is no place for the midfielder, who was called up last month but pulled out due to injury and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Tuchel said: “It was only three weeks after the last camp and the last win, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the identical squad in because they established a benchmark. Now it is about building routines out of it. We have unfortunately a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Tino and Noni and we welcome of course the Arsenal forward in to replace Madueke. The defender was a last-minute addition previously; he will remain with the squad.”
